The strain of adult responsibilities are unveiled for the eyes of two young children in director Tze Chun’s profound, heartrending and often humorous challenge to the American Dream. When the bank forecloses on her house, Chinese immigrant Elaine Cheng (Cindy Cheung) illegally moves her two first-generation American children into a model apartment. Elaine has an unfortunate weakness for get-rich- quick direct marketing programs, and when a wealthy woman pitches her on a new pyramid scheme, Elaine thinks she has found her ticket to financial recovery. This begins a series of events that results in a difficult and adventurous experience for her two children.
